Allan is a sixth generation Texan who grew up in a Knox County Texas family ranching operation that dates back over 120 years. He received his Masters Degree from TCU in Ft Worth and taught English at Oklahoma State University.

Allan is a three time Grammy nominee – with song writing credits for performers like Kenny Rogers, The Oak Ridge Boys, George Jones, and Diana Ross.  Allan Chapman and Jim Jones are 2017 recepients of The Western Writers of America Spur Award for Best Western Song, “Half-Way Down The Devils Road”.

Allan is married to the fiddle instrumentalist extraordinaire – Rodeo Kate. Together they live in rural Wise County where they continue a ranching tradition in Wise and Clay counties.
