Mike Blakely

Mike Blakely is the author of 17 novels marketed nationwide by Forge Books (New York City) and other major publishers, and a songwriter with eleven CDs to his credit, released by his own independent record label, Swing Rider Records.  Most of his books are historical novels set in the American West.

In 2008, Mike won the Spur Award for songwriting for the Best Western Song of the Year (Western Writers of America) with his tune, “The Last Wild White Buffalo,” from his CD titled “The Rarest of the Breed.”  In 2001, he won the Spur Award for Best Western Novel of the Year for his book “Summer Of Pearls.”  He has co-authored novels with two country music legends, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers.

Mike grew up ranching and training horses and currently lives on his own spread, The Seven Stars Ranch, in Llano County.
