Randy Rieman makes his home in the Beaverhead Valley of southwest Montana, where he runs a small horse operation and a destination horsemanship school . Randy spent the early years of his career on various cow calf ranches , grazing associations , and stocker operations in Montana , Nevada and California . He later focused on starting colts for private ranches and the public in Hawaii , New Mexico , and Montana. For the last 10 years he has traveled extensively teaching horsemanship , ranch roping , and stockmanship clinics both in the U.S. and Europe .
For the last 30 years Randy has been involved with the public presentation of cowboy poetry at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko ,Nevada. He has been featured as a reciter of traditional western poetry as well as Australian bush poetry at numerous gatherings and festivals around the western United States . In 1995 , Randy was chosen as part of a team of western poets and reciters to do a 15 city tour of cowboy poetry in England and Wales . The tour was part of the “Year Of Literature” celebration in the U.K. Randy is delighted to be returning to the Alpine gathering after a long absence .
