Rolf Flake

Gilbert, Arizona

Rolf was born in Snowflake, Arizona, in 1931 and was raised on the family ranch. He married his wife, Jean, 57 years ago. They raised six children and now have 30 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. His son Reed, and grandson Skyler, carry on the fifth and sixth generation cowboy heritage.

Rolf’s cowboy poetry career began in 1981. Since then he has written over 200 cowboy poems. He has recited in Elko, Nev., several times as a featured poet, and at the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering in Prescott each year since its beginning. He has been featured at gatherings in Utah, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, as well as gatherings in Sierra Vista, Safford, Wickenburg, and Apache Junction. His poetry book, “Cloud Watchers“, has won several awards. He has produced two CDs of cowboy poetry; “Western Verse or Worse“, and “Cowboy Heritage“. Both of these albums were nominated as best albums by the Academy of Western Artists in successive years.
