Ross Knox

Cowboy poet Ross is one of the most prolific poets of our time and has set to memory well over one hundred poems. His sense of humor and unique delivery make him a sought-after addition to gatherings everywhere. Ross has cowboyed for a living most of his life. He spent 13 years as the head mule packer in the Grand Canyon, leading a string of mules several times a week loaded with provisions to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the canyon. He packed for several years in Yosemite Park, and he and his wife Lynne now live and work on a ranch in Southern Arizona. He is well known for being the very last person to turn in his paperwork for this gathering.

Ross has appeared at the Alpine Gathering many times and has received their Heritage Award. He performed at the first gathering in Elko, Nevada, and has been a regular there ever since. Ross is the epitome of the combination of cowboy and poet.
